What You Need to Know About Waxing Snowboards

If you are renting your equipment from a snowboard shop in Vancouver, expect it to be maintained already. This is one of the advantages of renting from a snowboard shop in Vancouver such as The Destination. However, if you have your own snowboard, you would have to do the waxing yourself.

Snowboards with extruded bases do not require waxing, which is good if you are a beginner who want to skip this part while still learning the basics of snowboarding. It’s virtually maintenance-free. But if you have a snowboard with a sintered base, waxing is crucial.
Never leave your snowboard with a sintered base unwaxed all throughout the summer season because this can lead to deterioration. Sintered bases lose their speed and efficiency on flats when not waxed regularly. It also tends to grate on the snow, thereby producing loud sound. The base do not glide well on the snow.
Always wax it before the start of the winter season. Don’t let three weeks go by without waxing your base either, especially if you are an avid snowboarder. If you have the time, wax it every after riding. If you think this is too much, you can always wax it every after 2 whole day riding sessions. It really depends on the kind of performance you want from your snowboard.
You can always pay someone to wax your snowboard for you. There are shops that accept waxing services. You can drop by your snowboard and pick it up when you’re ready to use it. It’s a very convenient set-up that is available for those who are always on the go.
